We have several apple trees in Walthamstow which are not privately owned, including those in the garden of Vestry House Museum. Their annual rhythm is the focus of several events in the E17 calendar:
January Wassailing to wish the trees good fertility for the coming year
August Scrumping & Juicing – the apples on public trees are picked by members of the Walthamstow Family Bike Club and also sometimes OrganicLea. These may be juiced at the Hornbeam Cafe on Hoe Street, or on Apple Day.
