The aim of the Walthamstow Wassail is to welcome in the New Year and create good things for our area for the coming twelve months. We weave together different parts of our community by carrying song through the streets, and into people’s homes and meeting places. We visit local orchards and beehives, big and small, to encourage bountiful crops in the coming year, and raise people’s awareness of the nature that exists in the area.
Our first full Wassail was in January 2011, and the Family Wassail was added the following year, in 2012.
The Family Wassail is run each year in conjunction with our local community art organisation, Scribble and Smudge
